Royal Decree 487/2022, of June 21, establishes the obligation for the personnel of facilities with Legionella risk to have training in minor Legionella operations. This training must enable them to carry out minor maintenance and control operations in safe conditions and in accordance with health regulations.
From Grins Ceramic Solutions, through its division of Grins Environmental Engineering, we provide this training in a personalized, practical and adapted to each installation. This saves our customers the need to attend generic courses in external entities such as Chambers of Commerce.
Practical training applied to real installations is essential to ensure proper training in minor legionella operations.
While standard training courses address the contents in a theoretical and general way, at Grins Ceramic Solutions we develop an on-site methodology, directly on the client’s facilities. This methodology allows the theoretical learning required by the Royal Decree to be complemented with specific training in minor legionella operations. This is done directly in the plant.
During the training in minor legionella operations, the essential contents defined by the regulations and official programs are addressed, among which the following stand out:
- Health importance of legionellosis: biology and ecology of Legionella spp., epidemiological chain, risk factors and transmission routes.
- Legislative framework and responsibilities of the licensee of the facility according to RD 487/2022 and regional regulations.
- Occupational health and safety: risks derived from the use of biocides, interpretation of safety data sheets, labeling and preventive measures.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE): selection, use and maintenance.
- Risk installations: operation, critical points and problems associated with water in risk systems (DHW, cooling towers, condensers, humidifiers, etc.).
- Hygienic-sanitary maintenance operations: general inspections, types of products used (biocides, anticorrosives, antifouling agents, dispersants), control of physical-chemical parameters, recording of actions and completion of control sheets.
In addition to the theoretical part, the practical minor legionella operations training includes exercises in equipment verification, parameter analysis, interpretation of records and review of water treatment plans. This ensures effective training of operating personnel.
